It’s International Women’s Day!

Everyone doubted Julia Child; the producer of WGBH in Boston thought no one wanted to watch her make an omelet on television and her publisher Alfred Knopf famously said that if anyone bought a book with the title “Mastering the Art French Cooking,” he’d “eat his hat.” But Julia believed in herself and her passion for cooking and, as they say, the rest is history. She is my idol, not just because her books taught me how to cook but because she bravely led the way for the rest of us.

I love that her editor Judith Jones reportedly said, “I like to think [Alfred Knopf has] eaten a lot of hats.”
