It's Cookbook Month?? Every month is cookbook month for me!! I wrote my first cookbook, “The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook,” in 1999 just to have something to do while I figured out what was next after selling my specialty food store. I worried that it would be a solitary pursuit alone in a kitchen developing recipes and alone at a computer writing text. Boy, was I wrong!

I've loved every minute of it - working with food stylists, prop stylists, photographers, book designers, editors and publicists. I love the reactions of everyone who uses my recipes to cook for the people around them. And I love figuring out what would make that chocolate cake taste even better.

Thank you to everyone who has supported cookbooks. I've written thirteen, and I'm just as inspired and excited now writing the next one as I was for the first!
