Autumn Garden

John Hall

I know everyone associates the Hamptons with summertime, but my favorite season here is actually autumn. We may put most of the garden to bed for the winter but there are still so many plants and trees- like this maple tree- that have beautiful colors in the fall.   I particularly love the contrasting textures of the hard-edged ilex hedge, the rough concrete pot with the gnarled standard wisteria branches, and the lacy gorgeousness of that maple tree.  They’re all very common things you can find a garden but they put on such a show for us every year!
