Vanilla Coffee Shakerato

Makes 2 drinks Beginner

  • ¾ cup espresso or strong coffee (regular or decaf) (see note)
  • 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup (see note, page 25)
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups ice cubes

In a large cocktail shaker, stir together the espresso, condensed milk, simple syrup, and vanilla. Add the ice and shake for a full 30 seconds, until frothy and very cold. Pour the drink and the ice into two 8-ounce glasses and serve ice cold.

I use the “long” rather than “short” setting on my espresso machine. You can certainly make this with strong coffee as well.
